Who is the Simba Hybrid Luxe most suitable for?
The Simba Hybrid Luxe is an advanced mattress with a hybrid design that is comfortable for most people and sleeping positions.
However, we think it's an excellent choice for:
- Side and back sleepers (of average weight)
- Light-weight stomach sleepers
- Couples and restless sleepers
- Warm sleepers
- People looking for a high-quality, luxury mattress
While the Simba Luxe Hybrid is widely considered incredibly comfortable, it is also one of Simba's most expensive mattresses. 👑
Let's take a closer look at who the Simba Hybrid Luxe is most suitable for. 🕵️
Side and back sleepers
The Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress is a great choice for average-weight adults who prefer to sleep on their back or side.
Layers of springs and foam allow the mattress to adapt to your body.
It has a supportive medium-firm feel, softened by the extra layers of plush Simba-Pure foam.
Most back sleepers find the relative firmness of the mattress prevents their spine from bending.
The mattress contours around the heaviest areas (hips and shoulders), which also helps keep the spine aligned if you sleep on your side.
Light-weight stomach sleepers
While the Simba Hybrid Luxe is generally best suited to side and back sleepers, this isn't always the case.
Lighter-weight individuals don't sink into mattresses as much, meaning a medium-firm mattress will feel firmer for someone who weighs less. 🧱
Stomach sleepers need a firmer mattress to prevent their spine from dipping at the pelvis.
A firmer mattress helps keep the spine aligned, preventing back pain and discomfort for stomach sleepers.
So, smaller individuals who sleep on their stomachs will find the Simba Luxe offers just the right level of support for a better night's sleep.
Couples and restless sleepers
Couples and restless sleepers are likely to love the Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress. 👩❤️💋👨
The thick, high-quality Simba-Pure foam that tops the mattress:
- Has low-motion transfer that stops you from feeling your partner's movements.
- Contours to the body, making it comfier but also more challenging to move around, which helps reduce tossing and turning.
Overall, it has a body-hugging and low-motion transfer (despite its several spring layers).
Motion transfer describes how much movement carries across a mattress.
If you feel your partner changing positions or getting out of bed during the night, your mattress likely has high motion transfer. ⛵
The Simba Hybrid Luxe offers minimal motion transfer and more of a "sinking in" feel that absorbs movement (rather than a bouncy feel that carries it).
Warm sleepers
Memory foam mattresses have a bad reputation for causing overheating during the night.🥵
This is because heat is retained inside memory foam material, creating a warmer sleep.
However, the Simba Hybrid Luxe is made with Simba Pure foam - a similar but much cooler alternative to memory foam.
Additionally, it has 4 layers of springs, which significantly improve airflow throughout the mattress.
Temperature control is a prime focus of the Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress, from base to cover.
Our testers found the Simba Hybrid Luxe cooler than most other mattresses, and overheating wasn't an issue. 😀
However, we didn't notice much difference in temperature regulation between the Simba Hybrid Luxe and the lower-priced Simba Hybrid Pro, despite claims that the Luxe version sleeps cooler.
Additionally, if you naturally feel very hot during sleep, we'd suggest avoiding using a mattress with any foam. 🔥
A much cooler alternative would be a natural pocket-sprung or latex mattress.
People looking for a high-quality, luxury mattress
The Simba Hybrid Luxe is not cheap.
It is Simba's second most expensive mattress and is best for those who have a higher budget and are searching for an excellent quality product. 💷
If you're on a budget (but don't want to compromise on quality), then the Simba Hybrid or Simba Hybrid Pro are considerably cheaper.
Who is the Simba Hybrid Luxe NOT suitable for?
While the Simba Hybrid Luxe is a high-quality and mostly comfortable mattress, it's not great for everyone!
The Simba Hybrid Luxe is not suitable for:
- Very hot sleepers
- People with a low budget
- Stomach sleepers
- Heavier-weight sleepers
As we said before, extra hot sleepers should avoid foam or hybrid mattresses like the Simba Luxe.
Those who can't afford to spend too much on a mattress may prefer the classic Simba Hybrid or, for an even more affordable selection, check out our favourite cheap mattresses in the UK.
Heavier people and heavier or average-weight individuals who sleep on their stomachs need a firmer mattress that prevents excess sinkage and spinal misalignment. 💪
Since the Simba Hybrid Luxe is a medium-firm mattress, it's not firm enough to provide the support heavier people and stomach sleepers require.
The firmer DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid would be a better choice for these people.
Simba Hybrid Luxe composition
Who said a bed-in-a-box mattress had to be basic? 🤔
The advanced Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress certainly isn't!
It is a high-quality, British-made mattress and is 100% recyclable.
The 11 layers include:
- Breathable top cover
- Natural bamboo wool layer
- Graphite infused Simbatex
- Two layers of 25mm Aerocoil springs
- CertiPUR stability layer
- Aerocoil spring support layer
- No roll-off SupportCore base
- Simba ReGen base layer
Given that it comprises 11 layers, it is unsurprising that the Simba Luxe measures 31cm (12.2 inches) deep, a whole 6 cm thicker than the Simba Hybrid! 🤯
Next up in our detailed Simba Hybrid Luxe review, let's see what these layers do. 👇
1. Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress cover
The Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress comes with a removable knitted mattress cover.
Made from 99% polyester and 1% elastane, the hypoallergenic cover prevents dust mites and bacteria.
It also has an internal cover to protect the inner layers when the outer layer is off and being washed.
While the outer mattress cover is washable, we still encourage you to use your regular bedding and a waterproof mattress protector for extra protection. ☔
Mattress protectors protect the mattress from accidents and bacteria build-up.
They also help increase the lifespan of your mattress.
The Nectar mattress protector is ideal as it is designed to fit mattresses up to 32 cm (12.6 inches) deep.
Handily, the Simba Hybrid Luxe also comes with side handles.
These handles make moving and rotating the mattress easier, which could be tricky given its heavy weight and depth. 🤹
Just a heads up - the Simba Hybrid Luxe should be rotated (but never flipped) every 6 months.
2. Natural bamboo wool layer
The natural bamboo-infused wool layer is one of the unique aspects of this premium-range mattress. 🐼
Bamboo is a fantastic organic material for sleep products, which is becoming increasingly popular in products.
Bamboo is hypoallergenic and naturally antibacterial, making it a great choice for those with allergies. 🤧
It is also thermal regulating, keeping you toasty on those chilly nights and cooler during the summer months.
The top layer of bamboo wool also wicks away moisture and dries fast, making it perfect for hot sleepers.
3. Graphite infused Simbatex
Simba uses open-cell, graphite-infused foam in the Simba Luxe.
This advanced cooling technology foam is as soft and comfortable as memory foam but with better ventilation.
The open-cell structure of the foam increases circulation, while the graphite infusion creates a cooler sleep surface. ❄️
Simbatex has 30 times the airflow of memory foam for a noticeably cooler sleep.
Most customers sleep comfortably on the Simba Luxe, with some specifically commenting in their Simba Hybrid Luxe reviews that they don't get too hot or cold.
Simbatex foam is more breathable and adaptable than polyurethane foam in regular memory foam mattresses.
Yet the advanced memory foam still moulds around the body to provide instant pressure relief. 🤗
Simba-Pure foam is also free from TCPP, parabens, phosphates, and other organic pollutants while exceeding fire regulations.
4 & 5. Aerocoil pocket springs
Simba double-up the Aerocoil springs (2.5cm/ 1 inch) to create a dynamic comfort spring system.
The Aerocoil springs are manufactured in Leeds from titanium alloy.
Split into 13 supportive zones, these micro springs are designed to provide the ideal level of support for different areas of the body.
They also give the mattress a more flexible feel, which adapts to the body alongside the Simbatex foam. 🥰
6. CertiPUR stability layer
A CertiPUR foam layer is positioned between the double layer of Aerocoil springs and the third Aerocoil spring layer.
It acts as an intermediary, improves the stability of the mattress, and promotes airflow.
7. Aerocoil carbon steel spring layer
The Simba Hybrid Luxe has up to 4000 springs for more individualised support.
This Aerocoil spring layer, measuring 4 cm (1.5 inches), further enhances the flexibility of the mattress. 🤸
It not only provides comfort but an advanced circulation system.
The larger springs also deliver pliable support that works with the body rather than against it.
8. SupportCore base layer
The Simba Hybrid Luxe has a sturdy spring foundation as its support base.
This base incorporates up to 1000 barrel springs, offering full body support up to the edges and reducing that roll-off feel. 🤗
Its deep, barrel-shaped springs are constructed from tempered steel.
Tempering steel makes it tougher and less brittle, meaning a more robust and durable foundation for your mattress.
The spring base also makes the mattress more breathable. 🌬️
Additionally, springs are also more environmentally friendly as they are easier to recycle than foam.
9. ReGen base layer
Sitting at the bottom of the Simba Hybrid Luxe is a layer of Simba ReGen foam.
Crafted from surplus CertiPUR foam with a recycled yarn cover, this layer aligns with the CertiPUR standard and is free from environmental pollutants and hazardous substances.
This final layer helps further increase mattress stability. 💪
Simba Hybrid Luxe firmness
So, how firm is the Simba Hybrid Luxe? 🤔
It has a medium-firm feel, similar to the Simba Hybrid Pro and Simba Hybrid.
We rated it as around a 7 out of 10 on our Sleep Hero firmness scale.
This level of firmness is best suited to back and side sleepers of average weight and light-weight stomach sleepers.
Bear in mind that how firm a mattress feels changes based on factors like your weight, sleeping position, and what you're used to.
It will feel firmer to some and softer to others. 🧱🧸
Overall, the Simba Hybrid Luxe has a slightly ‘plusher’ feel than previous Simba models.
Topped with Simba-Pure foam, the mattress hugs the body and allows for extra sinking compared to most medium-firm mattresses. ⚓

Simba Hybrid Luxe edge support
We found that the edge-support system performed best when weight was distributed evenly across the mattress.
It was less effective when weight was contained in one single spot. 👇
As you can see from the images below, The Simba Hybrid and Simba Hybrid Pro appear to sink much less during our edge test.
However, it’s important to point out that other factors may have contributed. 💭
For example, the tester is sitting slightly closer towards the middle of the other Simba mattresses, which will have offered better support.
How comfortable is the Simba Hybrid Luxe?
This mattress is very comfortable.
During our Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress review, our testers felt very well-supported when lying down.
It is clear that the mattress was designed with high attention to detail. 🔍
We felt the mattress was supportive and comfortable for every sleeping position, though it is best for side and back sleepers.
In the side sleeping position, the mattress contoured around the body whilst keeping the spine neutrally aligned throughout the night.
The medium-firm feel of this mattress also makes it a perfect choice for back sleepers.
In addition, our lighter-weight tester slept comfortably on their stomach as the mattress was firm enough to prevent spinal dipping.
It has a quality design, balanced medium-firm feel, pocket spring body contouring zones, and pressure-relieving foam. 😍
Given these factors, it's no wonder that most customer Simba Luxe mattress reviews rave about the comfort of this mattress.
However, this Simba mattress won't suit everyone.
Lighter-weight side sleepers need a softer mattress with more give.
Likewise, heavier-weight sleepers may feel they sink too much into the mattress and may need a firmer mattress. 🧱
The right mattress firmness can keep you comfortable, help you sleep better, and reduce back pain, with most studies suggesting that medium-firm to firm mattresses are best for people with lower back pain [1].

Unfortunately, you can't currently buy a Simba Hybrid Luxe small single, emperor or other EU-size mattresses.
Consider the Simba Hybrid or Simba Hybrid Pro if you need one of these sizes.
Simba Hybrid Luxe depth
As previously mentioned, the Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress is extra deep.
It is 31 cm (12.2 inches) thick.
We measured our mattress during our Simba Hybrid Luxe review and found it fell a little short of this, measuring 30 cm (11.8 inches).
While this mattress feels a bit like being in the Princess and the Pea, the thickness isn't always ideal.
It can be tricky to get in and out of bed if you have a very thick mattress on a taller bed frame, especially for elderly people and those with physical difficulties. 👵👨🦽
Lower bed frames can better accommodate the extra height.
It's also worth noting that you may need ultra-deep sheets to fit around a mattress this thick comfortably.

It is compressed and rolled for quick and easy delivery.
If you decide to purchase a Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress, you won't need to handle the box alone.
Simba offers a white glove delivery service, meaning they will bring the new mattress to your room of choice 🚚
Delivery is free to mainland UK addresses and can be at your door in as little as 3 days!
Getting a Simba Luxe unpacked and ready for sleeping is also quick and easy.

Once your Simba Hybrid Luxe has been unrolled and the plastic removed, decompressing will take a few hours. 🎈
Most Simba mattresses reach their full size in 3-6 hours, but some can take as much as 72 hours. ⏳
You may notice a faint chemical smell during this process.
This is known as off-gassing [2].
It is common with bed-in-a-box memory foam mattresses and is not harmful.
We suggest opening your windows to help air out your room, and any smell should disappear within a few hours.
After the mattress has fully decompressed, you can hop on and sleep well! 🙌

This means you get 200 days to sleep on the mattress before deciding if you want to keep it.
A longer trial like this is ideal as getting used to a new mattress can take some time, particularly if it has a very different feel to your old mattress.
About 85% of people adjust after 1 - 2 weeks. 10% need 4 - 5 weeks to get used to a new mattress, and 5% need longer than 5 weeks.
If you don’t get on with your Simba Luxe, contact the Simba team, and they will arrange a collection and full refund.
The only brands to beat Simba with a longer trial are Nectar and DreamCloud - which now offer a full 1-year trial and revolutionary lifetime warranty.
Simba Hybrid Luxe guarantee
The Simba Hybrid Luxe comes with a 10-year guarantee [3].
This covers any issues with the mattress that are caused by faulty workmanship. 🛠️
If you find a fault, contact the Simba team within 30 days of spotting the issue and be ready to provide proof of purchase.
The 10-year warranty doesn't cover accidental damage such as stains and soiling or damage caused by pets or children.
Even more reason why you should consider investing in a mattress protector for extra peace of mind. 😅

Should I buy the Simba Hybrid Luxe?
The outcome of our Simba Hybrid Luxe review: It's a high-quality and extra comfortable mattress!
But bear in mind this top-of-the-range product doesn't come cheap. 💰
You may want to consider the Simba Hybrid Pro if you can't stretch your budget - it is several hundred pounds cheaper (when not on sale) and promises the same excellent Simba comfort as the Simba Hybrid Luxe. 💤
However, if you can afford it and want one of the best mattresses, the Simba Luxe is a no-brainer.
